In 2010 Mike and Kate became the first couple to ever walk around Lake Superior and they did so following the shore as much as possible. It was not a backpack trip, it was a walk and they stayed in a camper at night to avoid camping in front of peoples cottages or in restricted land. It took 145 days to complete the 1555 mile walk and it allowed this couple, in their sixties, to see the lake that they were married on in great detail. This was done to celebrate Mike's retirement and to address their commitment and concern for Freshwater. They wanted to leave a legacy for their grandchildren and to challenge others to follow their dreams and to take actions that they believe in.
